Is your business Ready for a Disaster?
Disaster Preparedness may save your Business and/or family from serious loss and injury. Los Angeles has wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and occasional power outages. Fortunately these do not occur at the same time.
Keep the following list nearby to improve your chances of survival:
1. Prepare a “go bag” containing important papers*, flash drive with documents on it, food and medicines for you and your animals, a few days of warm clothes, cell phones and chargers
for your electronic equipment.
2. Keep cars gassed up. Don’t wait till you only have a ¼ tank. You never know when you will need to get out of town and LA travel is long.
3. Flashlights with fresh batteries.
4. Water, camp axe, large pocket knife, and matches or fire stick.
5. Important papers:
a. Trust and will
b. Passports
c. Deed to house
d. Mortgage payment company/invoice .
e. Insurance documents home, car, health, etc.
f. Banks list with account numbers
g. Phone numbers of key contacts
h. Computer/backup/laptop – Keep documents in the cloud. These items can also be kept in a waterproof/fireproof safe.
6. Cash, cash, cash – you may be unable to get to a bank. During a power outage credit cards become useless. The cash should be enough for a couple nights at a hotel/motel and food as well as basic necessities.
7. MOST IMPORTANT IS YOUR LIFE AND SAFETY – when they say to evacuate, Don’t wait evacuate! Consider you may not be allowed to return for some time.
